The Hyundai Ioniq 2023 is the ideal vehicle for those who want a plug-in or hybrid hatchback that gives the feeling of driving a regular car and doesn’t stand out too much.

Contrary to the Toyota Prius, the Ioniq appears conventional and is more efficient too. However, the plug-in Toyota offers way better fuel economy than Hyundai.

Both versions of the Ioniq face the refinement problem. However, as they are conventional, the two are often mistaken for non-hybrid vehicles. The interior is filled with sustainable materials and a slew of features, making the Ioniq an unexciting yet user- and eco-friendly.

Now let’s take a look at Hyundai Ioniq 2023 price Philippines and a brief review to see if this is the vehicle for you.

About Hyundai And Hyundai Ioniq

Hyundai Motor Company, often called Hyundai, is a multinational automotive manufacturer based in Seoul, South Korea. The company was founded in 1967 and now it is known as Hyundai Motor Group. It is made up of Genesis Motor - a luxury subsidiary and Ioniq - a sub-brand specializing in electric vehicles. The last brand on the list is Kia Corporation. Hyundai doesn’t fully own the last one, just a 33,88% stake in it.

Hyundai Ioniq is a five-door liftback manufactured by Hyundai. The name Ioniq is a combination of ion and unique. The company marketed it as vehicles with no internal combustion engine. However, it sold them in Hyundai Ioniq electric, plug-in hybrid, and hybrid variants.

Interior

2022 Hyundai Ioniq interior

Hyundai Ioniq interior

Hyundai Ioniq interior is one of its strong points. The driver benefits from a wide range of wheel and seat adjustments, allowing them to find the best driving position. For added comfort, the pedals are fixed in just the right places for the most comfortable stance possible. While the front visibility is ample but the sweeping roofline somewhat restricts the view a little bit. On the back, the rear spoiler, for some reason, splits the rear windscreen, which might raise the concern of parking. However, the rear-view camera and parking sensor can definitely make up for this shortcoming.

Hyundai Ioniq features

An 8-inch infotainment touchscreen without satellite navigation comes standard on the entry-level model. Higher trim levels are equipped with a larger 10.25-inch display. The whole setup looks pleasing, even more so than that of the Volkswagen Golf GTE. It allows you to customize the way it looks and offers decent graphics. One of the most welcoming customizations is changing the homescreen to display all of your often-used functions.

The system supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Engine

In our test, it takes the Hyundai Ioniq hybrid 8.9 seconds to reach 60 mph, far from quickly. The Eco model suffers from slow shift timing. The transmission takes longer than usual to downshift to allow the vehicle to accelerate. The plug-in hybrid variant runs on an electric motor, a 1.6-l four-cylinder engine, and a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Ioniq Philippines shows an impressive performance with responsive steering and a firm grip on roads of all kinds. It does lean and pushes hard in corners but most of the time, it is stable. The vehicle performs well on highways and comes with a pleasing surprise - the steering-wheel paddles allow drivers to modify the regenerative braking, offering them something coming really close to the one-pedal driving experience Tesla is known for and helps popularize.

Safety And Driver-Assistance Features

All Ioniqs come equipped with a lot of desirable driver-assistance features. Higher trim levels have even more than that, for example, the function that detects pedestrians who may intercept its path. Here is a list of highlights:

  • Automated emergency braking
  • Forward-collision warning
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Lane-departure warning
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Blind-spot monitor

Fuel Economy

When it comes to fuel economy, Ioniq Blue is the best on the market. However, in our test, the Ioniq Limited is rather disappointing with a performance 2-mpg short of what EPA estimates; but this isn’t the reason to condemn it. Despite failing to live up to the EPA ratings, it is still one of a handful of cars that can reach 50 mpg.

Another variant that doesn’t deliver its EPA estimate is the plug-in but it still performed as well as other competitors on highways. This kind of performance may deter some would-be buyers but in reality, the Ioniq is good enough for the everyday drive.

Hyundai Ioniq 2023 Pros And Cons
